Introducing Navicat On-Prem Server 3.0 Sep 19, 2025 by Robert Gravelle

On Oct 28, 2024, the Seamless MySQL and MariaDB Management with Navicat On-Prem Server blog installment introduced an on-premise solution that allows distributed teams to collaborate in real time, share data, coordinate tasks, and communicate seamlessly through a centralized platform. It's one of two Navicat offerings for Collaboration - the other being Navicat Cloud. Whereas Navicat Cloud offers a central space for your team to store Navicat objects, Navicat On-Prem Server is an on-premise solution for hosting a cloud environment where you can securely store Navicat objects internally at your location.

Now, Navicat has just released Navicat On-Prem Server 3.0. It includes a few new features that promise to help foster even greater collaboration within your team. There are four main features as follows:

  • Added support for PostgreSQL and Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres connections.
  • The Query Editor has been enhanced to include Code Completion, Code Folding and SQL Beautify.
  • Expanded Object Filtering Features.
  • An improved "New Connection" Dialog.

In today's blog we'll be reviewing Navicat On-Prem Server 3.0 and evaluating how the above features help manage your MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL instances more effectively than ever before.

Upgrading to Version 3.0

Moving up to Navicat On-Prem Server 3.0 is a fairly simple process:

  • To begin, head on over to the download page and locate the installation file that matches your operating system.
  • Before running the installation program, be sure to uninstall the previous version of Navicat On-Prem Server.
  • Now you're ready to execute the installation program.
  • Once the installation completes, a browser with the initial setup page should open. If it doesn't, you can right-click the app icon in right bottom corner to start the app.
  • Navicat On-Prem Server will remember your login credentials as well as all other configuration details, so you should be able to login to the app exactly as you did in previous versions.
  • Upon logging in for the first time, you'll be greeted by the Welcome splash screen. It highlights all of the new features in version 3.0.

Now let's turn our attention to the new features described above.

PostgreSQL and Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Connections

If we click the "+New" button at the top of the main app screen, a context menu will appear containing two items: "New Project" and "New Connection". Clicking on the latter will open the New Connection Dialog. Looking at the Connection Filter we can see that there are many new connection types, the most notable being PostgreSQL. Beyond that, the Vendor Filter has also been expanded to include Fujitsu, HighGo, Kingbase, and more:

Enhanced Query Editor

The Query Editor has been completely revamped to include some of the most sought-after features from the Navicat database administration and development tools. These include:

  • Beautify SQL: Automatically reformat messy or compressed SQL code into clean, properly indented, and readable format with consistent spacing and line breaks with a click of a button! The resulting code will be structured in such a way that follows standard formatting conventions, making it easier to understand and maintain.
  • Pin: Preserves critical data snapshots alongside their queries and timing information for ongoing analysis.

All of the essential features that you'd expect are also there, including syntax highlighting, code folding, code completion, and Query Explain.

The synergistic effect of all these features will be enhanced development productivity and clearer SQL code.

Expanded Object Filtering Features

Thanks to the expanded Object Filtering features, you can now efficiently search through large volumes of data to locate specific objects instantly, so important information is always within reach.

Improved "New Connection" Dialog

You'll notice that there are two new icons on the New Connection dialog to the left of the Search box: they activate Grid View and List View respectively. Previously, only Grid View was supported. Here's a comparison of each view type:
